Exodus 16: 15-22 (KJV) states:
15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
16 This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
19And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
21 And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. 22 And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
Then in Hebrews Chapter 9 (KJV):
1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
Now, manna has a very short shelf-life. How was it preserved in the tabernacle or am I misunderstanding what I am reading?

Jhn 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
Jhn 6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Jhn 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
Jhn 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Jhn 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Jhn 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
Jhn 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
2Ch 5:1 ¶ Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in [all] the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
2Ch 5:2 ¶ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which [is] Zion.
2Ch 5:7 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy [place, even] under the wings of the cherubims:
2Ch 5:8 For the cherubims spread forth [their] wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
2Ch 5:9 And they drew out the staves [of the ark], that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.
2Ch 5:10 [There was] nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put [therein] at Horeb, when the LORD made [a covenant] with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
Where did the manna go?
Jer 3:16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit [it]; neither shall [that] be done any more.
Jer 3:17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
I believe the Manna was to be kept in rememberance..
which is the word of God.
Exd 16:33 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
to be kept for your generations..
through those generations was the manna given to the children to remember?
I wonder if those are the crumbs under the table??..hmm
Mat 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
Mat 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast [it] to dogs.
Mat 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
Mat 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Just tossin some bread/manna verses..
Ecc 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
Isa 58:7 [Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Jer 38:9 My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for [there is] no more bread in the city.
there is no more bread in the city..hmm..
I wonder if that would be considered a "great famine" in the land?
Amo 8:11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Amo 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it].
Deu 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Jhn 7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
where is the manna?
Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it].
Rev 19:13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
God preserved the manna in himself..
just ramblin..

Lone and Nobby;
I am so happy to see both of you!
So what you're suggesting is the manna is one of two things:
1) A word with more than one meaning or
2) A word with a physical meaning and also a symbolic connotation.
Am I understanding what you have presented correctly?

Yes..
Manna is the Word of God..
God fed them Manna in the wilderness. They recieved the word of God.
But it was ministered according to the flesh by Moses.
Meaning, the spiritual food became food for the flesh instead of food for the spirit.
It was understood in a physical sense rather than a spiritual sense.
like works of the flesh vs. works of the spirit.
One is physical and the other spiritual.
God uses the physical to express the spiritual. Using things we can see to explain those things we can't see.
But they believed in what they "saw" and not as it were by faith.
Manna is Angel food, spiritual food for the soul.
They were looking for something to fill their flesh, so God gave them Manna is flesh form to fill their flesh appetite.
In the NT people are looking for something to fill their spirits. And they "saw" the Manna for what it was intended for..spiritual nourishment and not physical nourishment.
Nevertheless, God provided both for them in the wilderness.
Flesh Manna for the flesh and Spiritual Manna to whosever had ears to hear and eat it.
If you look at the physical Manna, it was only good for so long. It did not sustain them forever. They ran out.
And they had nothing left to remind them of what the Manna meant. So they made their own manna."beware the leaven of the Pharisees"..and the disciples thought he meant bread/manna..but he was talking about their doctrines and teachings..
But Jesus says he is the true Manna. The spiritual meat that rained down from heaven. Not to feed the flesh which is corruptible..(you are what you eat, and the manna in the wilderness was corruptible), but to feed the spirit which is incorruptible and never perishes.
If they had eaten the Manna in the wilderness to fill up their spirit (faith), it too never would have perished. But their desire was for meat for the flesh, and that's what they recieved..(works).
I'm very glad to see you all too.
and I'm still going to and fro and up and down and all around the countryside..
