DOCUMENTATION: (Daniel 7:25....'think to change times and Laws')
"Protestants accept Sunday rather than Saturday as the day for public worship 'after' the Catholic Church made the change .....BUT the Protestant mind does not seem to realize that....in observing the Sunday, they are accepting the authority of the spokesman for the church, the Pope", ('Our Sunday Visitor', February 5, 1950).
Romans 6:16 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness ?"
"Sunday is a Catholic insitution,and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles....Fromthe beginning of scripture to the end (Genesis-Revelation) there is not one single passage that warrants the transfer of public worship from the 7th day of the week, to the 1st day of the week", ('Catholic Press', Sydney, Autralia, August, 1900).
"IF Protestants would follow the Bible, they shouldworship God on the Sabbath day. In keeping the Sunday they are following a Law of the Catholic Church" (Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, replying for the Cardinal, in a letter dated February 10, 1920).
"The Church changed the observance of the Sabbath to Sunday by right of the divine, unfallable authority given her by her founder, Jesus Christ.
The Protestant claiming the Bible to be their only guide to faith, has no warrant for observing Sunday.
In this matter, the Seventh-Day Adventist is the only consistent Protestant", ("The Catholic Universe Bulletin', August 14, 1942).
"It was the Catholic church which by the authority of Jesus Christ, has transferred this rest (from the Bible Sabbath) to Sunday....Thus the observance of Sunday by the Protesant is in homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the Catholic Church", (Monsignor
Louis Segur, 'Plain Talk about the Protestant of Today', Page 213).

| I agree with what you said but the seventh-day adventist is not the only church which recognizes the true sabbath day. So does the Church of God world mission society. I find that there are several similarities. if you want to check them out their website is www.english.watv.org |

Thus far Silver Surfer has failed repeatedly to provide such proof, perhaps you've read something in scripture that the rest of the faithful have missed? |

God created all things in 6 days and he bleesed the seventh day (gen 2:3)
mark 16:9 when Jesus rose early on the first day of the week he appeared first to mary magdalene... And in the Good News Bible it is written "After Jesus rose from death early on Sunday, he appeared first to mary madalene..." When you look at a calender which day is the first day of the week and wich day is the seventh day of the week? If you look in a dictionary sunday is described as the first day of the week. So, if god blessed the seventh day then why would you worship on the first day?
Unless you accept the Catholic Churches authority there is no reason to worship on sunday. |

Doesn't look like "sunday' is actually in scripture either.... |

| Hi: I wonder if anyone thinks of it from this position. The first church probably observed the sabbath by resting, however they met to hear preaching and break bread(Lord's Supper?) on the day after the sabbath which would be our Sunday. The Jewish christians,I am sure rested on the sabbath, however they met for what we call a worship service on Sunday. So how are christians today "keeping" the sabbath? The bible has the christians(Jewish)resting on the sabbath but having a service on the next day(our Sunday). So again, if "resting" was how the Jewish christians observed the sabbath, and having a service was what the Jewish people did on Sunday.......then what is a christian to do today to observe the sabbath, rest or have a service? |

samson has a good point and that may be the reason why the catholic church decided to change the day of worship. but, this is a good link with plenty of facts proving that saturday is the biblical sabbath.

I say we rest on saturday. Paul said
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. |
