I have talked to Christians who believe in hell and those that belive hell is not an eternity of suffering just an absence of G-d, which would be hell for them....
I don't understand how a just and loving G-d can send his creations to suffer for an eternity?
I believe there is more to life than science but I don't believe the bible in infalluble, it is after all only written, and translated, by man.
I live my life from a place of questions, and i am on a spiritual journey (not believing there is a final destination, besides maybe enlightenment). I grew up Christian and my mother is a very devoted Christian.
I am not concerned about going to helll, because any intelligent being responsible for my being here simpy could not inflict an etenity of suffering on creatures (us) who did not ask to be here, especially when he gave us inquiring minds, and no true scientific evidence in the bible. So what do you guys think of hell? Who goes there? What is it? |

Not to sound rude just a blunt question if you dont mind.........
Is God real? Is Christ real? Is heaven real?
Once you find the answer to these questions you will find the answer to your question, "Is Hell real?"
If you feel like jumping ahead though give me a hollar and I will find all the scriptures that actually decribes hell, hades, the abyss, the firey pit. etc.
Just to get you started though, yes hell is very real and not just a place where Christ will be absent from.
Give me a hollar if you want proof

Here's an example that I've used before for a loving God, parent, pet owner, etc:
God says "If you love Me you keep my commandments, and here are the rewards for keeping my commandments, Heaven, eternal life, mansions, streets of gold, pure joy and love free of tears, etc. Here's what you get if you go against my commandments, hell, damnation, eternal fires of burning sulpher, lonliness, suffering, gnashing of tongues, eternal thirst and hunger, etc."
Do we get a choice of Heaven or hell? Sure, it is laid out for us. We know our consequences, and God is a God of followthrough, He does what He says He is gonna do. You keep His commandments and you have eternal life with joy and love. You go against His commandments and you go to hell.
Now then, compare this to a loving parent, "If you keep your room clean and your homework done I will take you to get ice cream on friday. If you don't keep your room clean and homework done I will take away your tv." The child has a choice of ice cream and keeping the tv, or no ice cream and no tv. Is it a loving parent that follows through with either situation? Sure it is, and a loving father disciplines his children......... |

My bro. that's a lot to look forward to. It boggels your mind.
| Quote: | | Here's what you get if you go against my commandments, hell, damnation, eternal fires of burning sulpher, lonliness, suffering, gnashing of tongues, eternal thirst and hunger, etc." | So many people will not make a chose that is the same as that is in the quote! The same as not excepting Jesus as your Savior. We are living in the last days I belive.
To put off excepting Christ you are walking on thin ice, We may suddenly die or the Lord may return for His Church. Either way you loose!
GSnJ, I likes your discription of the parent & the child.
God Bless You bro., |
