I have basic questions about 1 Corinthians chapter 6.

My first question is regarding verses 2, 3:

2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?"

3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Then.....

John 5:22-25 says:
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

So.... can someone please explain this to me?

Question number 2:

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

.... What does 'effeminate' mean in this verse and who is that reference referring to?

My third question is in reference to 1 Corinthians 6:4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

Who is this verse referring to when it talks about the 'least esteemed in the church? What does this verse mean?

Deu 25:1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that [the judges] may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

Psa 78:49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels [among them].

I believe the saints are the church members who judge the world around us. We see tribulations famines and wars and these are caused by evil "spirit/angels" attitudes...call them what you will. We judge the cause and the heart of the controversies.

Christ is the head, the church is the body. It is the hand that says to the foot I have no need of thee...
But all parts of the body should be esteemed the same.

The dead are those who do not know God and do not know peace love joy mercy goodness..these things but specially hope. And when one is dead and is given hope then he comes alive and is made known to God even as he is known...

Jhn 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

It's in the knowing that makes one dead or alive.

effeminate:

Greek for 3120
malakos {mal-ak-os'}

1) soft, soft to the touch

2) metaph. in a bad sense

a) effeminate

1) of a catamite

2) of a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man

3) of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness

4) of a male prostitute

Mat 20:25 But Jesus called them [unto him], and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
Mat 20:26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
Mat 20:27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
Mat 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Luk 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

It seems the higher you go up the ladder the more likely you are to fall down. So those who are least are actually greater in the eyes of God even though they are not greater in the eyes of men.

Your answers have answered some of my questions but raised others:

Matt 7:

The colored verse is one of my favorite scriptures. But Luke 12:57 says... "Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?"

This is my understanding of judgement and judging: There is a vast difference between judging (discerning right from wrong) and passing judgement upon another. Judging is a loving guesture that seeks to help another. When you pass judgement upon another, you are placing yourself in a position of superiority and it is neither loving nor helpful. Is this kind of what your getting at?

Regarding your answer to my question on the term 'effeminate' (1 Corinthians 6:9), is this scripture then referring to homosexuality in general or male prostitution? Does it cover the whole spectrum?

In reference to my question about who 1 Corinthians 6:4 is referring to when it says "set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church," Lone stated:

Unbelievers.


"What does this verse mean?"
Believers shouldn't appeal to unbelievers to sort out believers' problems. But rather should appeal to Christ their Head and fellow Body-members

I don't buy that. I don't think unbelievers is who the verse is talking about.

Again, I don't think that is what is being said.

Also, the first question entails more than just the two verses you referenced.

1 Corinthians chapter 6:2, 3:
