Paul told the church of Corinth to desire the sincer milk of the word that you may grow therby. The best way to grow as a Christian is to study the word of God. Jesus said that man shall not live on bread alone but every word that procedeth out of the mouth of God. God bless you and may you live fully for Christ.

I agree with the other brother,
There are, now more than ever, volumes of "devotional" type books, covering every possible subject. For now, stay away from those. Study the WORD only. There will be plenty of time for the other later. If spiritual growth is what is desired, it can only come from God, learning about Him and what He says.
We are in the days of the last, we have many false teachers, who cherish the chance to decieve. So for now, study the Word. If you have questions you can ask us here (we won't know everything, but might be able to point you in the right direction).

Thank you for all the replies. I guess the first step is to get started with a cell group or a bible-study group so that there is a spiritual leader to guide one alone until one is capable to do the bible-study or quiet time alone.

It is good that you take such a view (Having a mature Christian leadership), what threw me was when you said "until one is capable to do the bible-study or quiet time alone." You have the ability to do it alone, that is because as you study, you will not be alone. The concern comes from understanding the state of the modern church. There is much out there which is very un-biblical. Much error has become common place in the churches of today. My thoughts on the matter goes as follows: To rely on man for answers is to invite error. To rely on the Holy Spirit is to embrace Truth. I would suggest you begin studying on your own- now.- it has been proven in experience that God will lead if we are obedient to follow. Read, meditate, Pray for understanding; there is little use in learning incorrectly.

I do want to make one thing clear, I am in no way saying to stop attending the fellowship of believers. But if you are looking to the modern church for Truth, you will either find yourself starving to death spiritually or you will learn error.
I have heard it said "Know your enemy" in fact I have seen entire books devoted to the study of demons and the devil under the pretense; but I say this "Know the Truth, your enemies will expose themselves."

You stand at the doorway of great wonder, beauty and Truth; remember God who saved you is faithful to complete the work.

I must not be following. What do you mean by capable to do it alone? You are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, the best source (actually the only source of Truth) of spiritual leadership. I guess I just don't understand the concept of not being capable to do it on your own right now.

As a young christian one might not understand how to interpret what you read from the bible and is good to have a matured christian for a guide until one has grown spiritual
