THE GLORIOUS ONENESS OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD
The many attacks against this earliest of beliefs about God generally comes from people attached to cults. (Although they deny this, excusing themselves through a self re-defined definition of the word ‘cult’). The concept of the Trinity is taught throughout the Old Testament, and was clearly understood by the disciples after the day of Pentecost.
Adversaries of this doctrine often try to use “proofs” such as the I John 5:7 text, the latter part of which is not found in the earliest MSS of the I John epistle. Then, they quote sources such as Moody Bible Institute and the Cambridge Commentary which readily admits to that, YET HOLDS STRONGLY TO THE TRINITY DOCTRINE for other reasons, which the adversaries unethically leave out of their attacks. The fact is, the Trinity doctrine is NOT dependant upon I John 5:7.
If the Bible was to suddenly loose 95% of all the texts referring to a God Who manifested Himself in more than one way, there would STILL BE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO PROVE THE FACT that God is One God Who manifests Himself in three ways.
People with other strange and non-biblical doctrines usually attack the Trinity doctrine because they think by their ridicule, it is the easiest doctrine which Christian believe to overcome. (Wrong !)
Once they deceive an unknowledgeable person of their doctrine regarding God, they then feed a poor victim the rest of their false doctrines, as well. (Doctrine which include the antichrist doctrine that says that Jesus is not returning physically, that the Holy Spirit is not a person, but a force, and other equally degrading doctrines to the One True God. Iris was so confident that she won the Trinity argument that she started her additional indoctrination studies and posted them). These unscrupulous people actually make up stories about what people who believe in this One God actually believe. They mocking tell people, “They believe in three gods. That’s idolatrous.” Or, “They believe in a three-headed teddy bear god.” All such accusations are lies designed to make the rest of their doctrines look more credible. There are few words that come close to the lowness to which they stoop in making up lies about what others believe so they will (deceptively) appear as angels of light.
As we all know, a person can “prove” almost any wild idea ever imagined by calling someone else who believes it “an expert,” or “an authority” and by taking Scripture out of context, or by just pretending they know the Greek or Hebrew useage of words, or picking up commentary quotations out of context. This is exactly what has occurred in this forum.
Additionally, they refuse to accept challenges to their own doctrine, while challenging others to prove the Trinity doctrine. In fact, the Trinity doctrine has been Scripturally presented on this forum multiple times, but adversaries of the truth keep insisting that they have not been answered. This is an exercise in dishonesty and deception typical of cults.
What true Christians believe is based entirely upon the Bible. A commentary, or an editorializing of Scripture has no authority in light of that which the God-breathed Word of God has. Here are just a few—of many, many points which brought early Believers to faith in the One True God Who manifested Himself in three ways (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Space limitsd the vast number of Scriptures which show that there is One God eternally existing in the ability to manifest Himself in three ways. Remember, when these people lie and say that Christians who believe what the early Church believed believe in mythology and a three-headed God, it is symptomatic of a spiritual sickness they have...to regularly and grossly deceive anyone who doesn't know the facts.
Here are JUST A FEW of the points:
THE ONE GOD WHO WANTS TO BE KNOWN IN A PLURAL HEBREW WORD.
Genesis 1:26 And God [Hebrew=‘Elohim‘] said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
'elohiym (el-o-heem'); plural of OT:433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: God could have chosen other words than a plural if He did not chose to make known His true nature. The words of the universe are at His disposal. He chose deliberately to make Himself revealed as One God with a plural nature.
THE ONE GOD WHO CREATED A THREE PART BEING IN HIS OWN IMAGE.
EACH PART OF GOD HAD A PART IN MAKING MAN, A THREE-PART BEING. Even the NT tells is that specific things make things like themselves. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. So, for a person to have a physical body, he had to be made by a Physical Being (Jesus). To have a spirit, he had to be made by the Spirit.
JESUS TAUGHT THAT MAN HAD MORE THAN ONE PART. IF MAN HAS MORE THAN ONE PART, GOD MADE IT IN HIS OWN IMAGE. HE MENTIONS TWO OF THOSE PARTS HERE. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 tells us that man has three parts. If man is made in God’s image, God must have three parts, as well. Man is a single being—one person—but he operates within those three parts. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
THE LIKENESS OF GOD REQUIRED CREATION OF A PHYSICAL PART TO MAN. HOW ELSE DID MAN BECOME PHYSICAL ? Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; *(IF THE PHYSICAL WAS NOT MADE BY GOD, WHO MADE IT ? AND, IF IT WAS MADE BY GOD, THE BIBLE TELLS us IT WAS AFTER GOD’S OWN LIKENESS).
Thanks for reading, |

Nobby, I think you are just trying to incite debate. A few months ago I would have jumped all over this, but I have mellowed in my old age. On CV you asked me when my birthday is and it's coming up - April 9 which happens to be Good Friday this year. I'll be thirty- nine again for the umpteenth time. I look pretty good for my age, don't you think?
Where is Enoch BTW? I miss him. |

As to the subject at hand, for quite awhile I have been leaning toward "to trinity or not to trinity" being a doctrine that salvation is not dependent on. The only caution I would urge is that anyone's belief one way or the other not be so adament as to prevent them from keeping an open mind to increased knowledge of the Lord, solely because it threatens that belief.
For myself, I believe that not forming any concrete doctrine in this matter, has allowed me insights into the bible that I might not have otherwise seen, simply because I read it from a different perspective than someone who has closed their mind to possibilities other than the trinity. |

No I don't believe it is a doctrine that salvation is dependent on.
But I believe that we need to be careful that we don't unintentionally steal away the deity of Jesus Christ in our beliefs. I believes that goes along with keeping an open mind.

MoJo, I am glad for you, that you have found a peace & understanding of the Word of God. A lot of members on these boards are so sure that they're right, that they don't take time to read others posts with an open mind.
I say when you know-it-all like me, you sure miss a lot. |

here i am, nobby. let's talk about the Holy Spirit for a moment.
1 Cor:2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God."
Paul is using a comparison here to tell us something. He is saying that only the spirit of a man can know the inner workings of man and that spirit resides in him. Each of us then have a spirit and only our own spirit really knows our inner self. Then he goes on to say that by that reasoning then no one can know the things of God but the Spirit of God. This tells me then that the Spirit of God resides in God as our spirit resides in us. (I can't really know if it literally means inside a form of some sort, but my meaning is that God and his Spirit are not distinct from each other)
And so my own belief regarding the Holy Spirit is that the Holy Spirit is God the Father and that the full measure of God's Spirit was given to Jesus. That Spirit is given to our spirit in some measure so that we can begin to spiritually discern the things of God by the spiritual things it teaches us. Spirit to spirit. This is also what makes Jesus the perfect mediator, because he can spiritually discern the things of man (having had a man's spirit) as well as the things of God. |

NLT version.
| 1Cor 2:11-12 wrote: | | 11No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. 12And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world's spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. |

I agree, this is good stuff. I reposted 1Cor 2:11 & 12 from the NLT it just made so easy to understand.
| Quote: | | Then he goes on to say that by that reasoning then no one can know the things of God but the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is Gods Spirit. I believe that His Spirit talks with our spirit
this is how Gods communicates with us.

I wish I could have said it as well.
God did give Jesus, His Holy Spirit, that is the part of Jesus that was God!
He was born of woman, he was flesh & bones just like you & I .
| Quote: | | This is also what makes Jesus the perfect mediator, because he can spiritually discern the things of man (having had a man's spirit) as well as the things of God. |
See there I knew we could agree on most everything.
That was a very good post!
God Bless you Sis, |
